On Saturday,\u00a0November 9th, Parents’ Weekend kicked off with festivities all over campus! While parents and students gathered in the Hinkle parking lot to tailgate, the Butler Club Basketball Team faced off against a very experienced Bradley University squad. The Dawgs battled through the first half to find themselves with a\u00a0 half time lead of 43-36. Matt Troja, a senior and\u00a0captain for the\u00a0Butler\u00a0team,\u00a0kicked off the second half\u00a0with back-to-back three-pointers to push the lead to 13.\u00a0Although the Bradley squad answered with a few three’s of their own, Butler rallied at the 12-minute mark to find 3 steals and 12 fast-break points from\u00a0the freshman duo, Trey Pettus and Bernard McFarland.<\/p>\n
With\u00a011 mintues left in the second half, Butler turned to their inside presence with Jim Herrick and Lavell Dean. While Bradley chained several quick opportunities,\u00a0Herrick and Dean\u00a0combined for 14 points in a 4-minute span\u00a0to increase the Dawgs lead to 15.\u00a0 Bradley responded\u00a0in turn with\u00a0several three-pointers in the closing minutes, but\u00a0another round of\u00a0fast-break points and mid-range jumpshots by Nick Donati\u00a0kept the Butler team well ahead of Bradley as the game closed and Butler\u00a0held on to an impressive 88-77 final score.<\/p>\n
