Great wins by the Dawgs this weekend to start off the regular season strong. Overall the Dawgs move to 13-2 on the year!
The Dawgs go 3-2 and place second in the annual Dayton club basketball tournament. This wraps up tournament play as the Dawgs move into league play next semester!
The team went to SIU-E and went undefeated in their opening tournament to start the season! Solid contributions all around helped the squad start off the season right.
The first step in any season is creating excitement for the new year. That starts with the annual Block Party, where we had over fifty new potential prospects sign up. We are still figuring out a date for our tryouts, but are expected to have them happen within the month. An email will be sent out to the prospects that signed up, and will be posted on here as well for you to see. We are looking forward to having a great year, Go Dawgs.
After a long weekend in Columbus, the Dawgs are heading back to Indy with a 2-3 record. With a big win over OSU to start the tournament, we fell to ISU and Pitt. After 2 losses, we bounced back against Michigan State. Lastly, we lost to OSU in the final game of the tournament — one that should have been won.
With no more games in the fall semester, Dawgs will host IU on January 20-21 to begin our conference play. We will be play 4 series within the first 6 weeks of the semester, so we are looking to make strides and make our conference playoff. Finally back to full health, our team hopes to hit our stride in the early months of 2018.

The Bulldogs found out a couple of things recently. First, Butler and Purdue were shifted from the Great Lakes South to the Great Lakes North. The Great Lakes North features Central Michigan, Western Michigan, Michigan State, Michigan, Bowling Green State and Purdue.
Butler’s schedule is now out for all 18 of its conference games (spread out through 6 weekends).
Butler’s Schedule is highlighted by a trip to the University of Michigan and three home weekends vs Purdue (November 5,6), Michigan State (January 14,15) and Central Michigan (February 11,12).
Dawgs Sweep Purdue Tournament
The Dawgs played as well as they have all season last weekend in a great national prep tournament at Purdue University. 12 teams competed in the tournament and the Dawgs came up victorious in all 6 of their games.
The tournament started with pool play on Saturday with the Dawgs winning 3 games against Krannert, Bowling Green and Central Michigan and earning them a #1 seed in the bracket play for Sunday.
Sunday started with a game against Indiana State that Butler won and moved on to play Dayton, a team that had beat them earlier in the season. The Dawgs defeated Dayton and played Wisconsin in the championship game. Butler jumped out to a 12 point half time lead and were able to hold onto that lead against a good Wisconsin team.
Butler now heads to the national tournament at Ohio State University this upcoming weekend. Pool play starts Friday night and continues on Saturday,
The team is extremely excited about the opportunity to play in the national tournament and can’t wait to see how they stack up against the nation’s best.
