After a sluggish 0-3 start to the Dayton Invitational on Saturday, November 7, the Dawgs rallied for two straight wins on Sunday. One over #1 overall seed Missouri. The Dawgs did however run out of gas on the last game Sunday falling to Dayton A in the championship game.
It was another great opportunity for the team to grow together and play. The Dawgs now have until second semester to continue practicing and preparing before a busy second half of the year kicks off.
Thank you all for your continued support!

Butler’s Club Basketball played host to Ivy Tech (Indianapolis) on Saturday in a defensive showdown.
The first half was a back and forth battle that led to a 24-23 lead for Ivy Tech at halftime. After a few adjustments from both teams, Ivy Tech opened the second half on a 6-1 run and led 30-23 with 12 minutes remaining in the game, The Bulldogs finally got their offense rolling and went on an 17-0 run that gave them a 40-30 lead with just under 5 minutes to go in the game. The Dawgs were able to keep that lead as they held on for a 45-37 victory at the Butler HRC (Health and Rec Center).
The Dawgs will now turn their attention to their next tournament coming up at Dayton on November 7th and 8th.
The Butler University Men/s Club Basketball team traveled to Purdue for their first tournament of the year this past weekend and left as Champions!
The Dawgs started slow on Saturday losing 2 of 3 games during the round robin portion of the tournament but bounced back with a strong performance on Sunday, winning 3 straight games and beating Indiana State in the championship game!
The Dawgs now look ahead to their upcoming home tournament on October 24th and 25th, where we expect to have at least 8 teams in attendance from the Midwest region!
The Dawgs will experience a quick turnaround next week as they have their first practice of the season on Monday and are thrown into the fire with a weekend tournament at Purdue. With a team comprised of only five new faces, the Dawgs have high aspirations for the upcoming season.
Stay posted for updates on how the Dawgs fare at Purdue next weekend!
The Roster will be released within the next couple of days.
This past weekend the Dawgs took a trip to the University of Dayton to play the first regional tournament of the semester. The first game was against Dayton B where the Dawgs came out on top 47-30 in a very strong defensive game. The next day the Dawgs faced off against the tournament champion, Dayton A, and were victorious again in a strong win 52-43. The first round of the tournament lead to a surprising early exit against Marquette 48-32. Although the result was not in the favor of the Bulldogs, all the players that went played very well and are heading in the right direction.

On Saturday, November 9th, Parents’ Weekend kicked off with festivities all over campus! While parents and students gathered in the Hinkle parking lot to tailgate, the Butler Club Basketball Team faced off against a very experienced Bradley University squad. The Dawgs battled through the first half to find themselves with a half time lead of 43-36. Matt Troja, a senior and captain for the Butler team, kicked off the second half with back-to-back three-pointers to push the lead to 13. Although the Bradley squad answered with a few three’s of their own, Butler rallied at the 12-minute mark to find 3 steals and 12 fast-break points from the freshman duo, Trey Pettus and Bernard McFarland.
With 11 mintues left in the second half, Butler turned to their inside presence with Jim Herrick and Lavell Dean. While Bradley chained several quick opportunities, Herrick and Dean combined for 14 points in a 4-minute span to increase the Dawgs lead to 15. Bradley responded in turn with several three-pointers in the closing minutes, but another round of fast-break points and mid-range jumpshots by Nick Donati kept the Butler team well ahead of Bradley as the game closed and Butler held on to an impressive 88-77 final score.
The Dawgs are now 5-1 on the year and will announce their next games in the coming weeks. We would also like to add a special thanks to all the families and friends that watched our game against Bradley! Stay tuned for more updates!
