New Season Approaching!

Believe it or not, there is less than a month left of summer. Good news.. that means it is almost time for Club Tennis to start again! Look for our table at Block Party (during Welcome Week) to sign up for our email listserv and to get more info about us if you have any questions! We welcome all levels to come out and see what we are all about! If you cannot make it to Block Party, be sure to send an email to our president, Andrew Koelper (akoelper@butler.edu), and he will be happy to add you to the listserv as well. Hope everyone has a great rest of the summer and go play some tennis!

Final Update

We hosted our First Annual Butler Spring Invitational with 12 teams on April 5th. We had teams travel from all over the Midwest, including Illinois, Ohio, and even Wisconsin! The format consisted of 4 pools of 3, with the winner of each pool moving on to bracket play for the championship. Butler had 2 teams competing, and both teams won their pool. The A team won the tournament defeating Toledo in the semis and Ohio University in final. The B team placed 3rd overall. This was a great way to end our year and gives us confidence for next year.

We finished this year with a 22-7 record, and finished 8th in the Midwest at the Sectional Championships. With everyone returning next year, we are looking forward to an even better year for the ’14-’15 season.

Many of us participate in USTA leagues during the summer in our respective sections to keep us playing. Be on the lookout for an event we are hosting with the Women’s team at the very beginning of the school year!

Successful Tournament at Purdue

After losing to Purdue in the first round of pool play, we fought back and beat Michigan State, IU, and Wisconsin, capturing 3rd place in the tournament behind Purdue and Michigan. We hope to bring that momentum into our tournament this weekend when we host a 12-team Invitational! It should be a lot of fun, so come out and support us both on the IM tennis courts as well as inside the Tennis Bubble!
