We hope you all have a great first week of classes!
We have gotten back into the swing of things to get ready for our busy spring semester that we have coming up. We have added a few new members to our team and are excited to have them with us and look forward to them adding to our roster.
The first tournament we have this semester will be Saturday, February 9th thru Sunday, February 10th here at Butler. We are expecting around 7 teams to join us for the weekend and look forward to some great competition. Any and all are welcome to come out and show support! We will then have a little over a month off before traveling to the University of Dayton for the NIRSA Regional Basketball Championships. Games will be held from Friday, March 22nd thru Sunday March 24th with 16 women’s teams in attendance. This will be our biggest tournament of the season.
Check back for updates on our success at each tournament.
This past Sunday we hosted a Round Robin here on campus. This was our second and final round of games for the semester. We had 9 of our members attend and participate in the set of games. We had four games that we played against 3 different schools. Indiana University Bloomington (who brought 2 teams), Purdue University, and University of Cincinnati. We went 1-3 during the round robin.
Although we are finished for the semester, we plan to continue working to get better for the spring semester. We don’t have a schedule set yet, but plan to attend a couple of tournaments and host our own again.
This past Sunday the Women’s Club Basketball Team traveled to Highland Heights, Kentucky to play our first tournament of the season at Northern Kentucky University. We had 8 of our girls travel with us. The teams we played against were Northern Kentucky and University of Cincinnati. We ended up going 1-2 at the tournament, but were greatly satisfied with our performance, especially since we have such a young team this year. Each of the two games we lost was only by single digits.
We have a two week break before hosting our own round robin tournament here at Butler on November 4th. We look forward to the event and getting better over the next two weeks. Hope to see you there!
I know we have been in classes for about a month, but it’s been a while since you’ve heard from us so I hope you had a great summer!
We officially started our season on Tuesday, September 11th. Although our numbers a lower than what they have been in the past, we have gotten off to a great start. We have 11 talented women apart of our team, and they have been working hard in practice to get ready for the events we have lined up for this semester.
Our first set of games will be played on Saturday, October 6th at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, OH. Then, a couple of weeks later we will be playing on Friday, October 19th through Sunday, October 21st at Northern Kentucky University in Highland Heights, KY. Lastly, on Sunday, November 4th we will have a round robin here on campus.
As we complete these weekends of game play we will update the blog on the results, so make sure to be on the lookout for those!
I hope everyone has been able to keep warm in these crazy Midwestern weather changes!
Our team has been quite busy these past two weekends! The first weekend of February, our team found ourselves in Madison Wisconsin for the first round of tournament play for the NIRSA Championship Series. With a team of six girls, we ended the tournament with a record of 1-2.
This past weekend, our team traveled to Dayton, Ohio for the second round of the NIRSA Championship Series. Tournament play went from Friday to Sunday and our 7 girls had a record of 0-3.
For now, we have a break from tournament play, but we are in the process of scheduling more games, hopefully one at home!
That’s all for now! everyone have a Happy Valentine’s Day and great rest of their week.
Happy New Year! Our team is excited to get back into the gym after a long winter break, especially to start practicing for the Midwest Division of the NIRSA Championship Series, which we are taking part in for the first time! Our first tournament for the league is the weekend of February 3rd and will take place in Madison, WI at the University of Wisconsin! The second tournament of the league is being held at the University of Dayton, February 9th-11th! We are excited to begin competing with other teams around the Midwest and look forward to everyone’s support!
That’s all for now and we wish everyone the best of luck for the new semester!
This past weekend, our team traveled to Iowa State University to compete in the Cyclone Invitational. Our girls went 2-6 for the weekend!
