Indoor Club Season

As the academic year comes to a close, the fall season of Butler Women’s Club Soccer is right around the corner! Although playing outside on the inches of snow sounds enticing, many of the club soccer players, both men and women, joined together to play in an indoor league. With games every week, this was a great opportunity to stay active and get touches on the ball. The competition was fierce, but the joint co-ed BU club soccer team gave it their all. We can’t wait for the next season to start, so stay tuned for more updates!

Ball State and Notre Dame Games

Today we had two home games vs. Ball State and Notre Dame. We tied Ball State 0-0 with several good chances on goal. In our second game, we tied Notre Dame 1-1. Our goal was scored by one of our first-year players Maggie Hunt on an incredible counterattack. All in all, we had a great day and look forward to two more games next weekend!

First Two Games

Our season is now in full swing as we have two home games this Sunday and will be traveling next weekend for games as well. A full list of our games, locations, and times can be found under the schedule tab on the top of this page.

Our first game vs. Ohio University was not how we pictured our start to the season. Unfortunately, we lost 0-4. We took this as a learning opportunity and worked very hard in practice the next week on areas we could improve upon.

This past Saturday, we traveled to Peoria, IL where we played Bradley University. We beat Bradley 3-0 with first-year players Chloe Kotrba scoring one goal and Anna Charron scoring the other two. The team played very well together and had a great time bonding to and from the game.

We are working hard this week and hope to have great outcomes this weekend!

Soccer Weekends

Two back-to-back weekends full of soccer for the Dawgs!

The team started off a 3-game weekend with a 0-0 tie against DePaul on September 24th. Both teams played a good game, and in the end, the Dawgs were unable to finish, despite many chances and near-misses. The team drew another tie with Ball State for a final score of 1-1 during the second game of the weekend, scoring within the final minutes to even up the match. The team fell 1-4 to Notre Dame during the second game on October 25th, and third game of the weekend. It was evident that the fatigue associated with a 3-game weekend had set it, but the Dawgs did their best and finished out the game strong.

After a week of practice and recovery, the Dawgs were ready to take on opponents Indiana University and Purdue. The team had an early start as it traveled to Bloomington, IN for the two games on October 2nd. A muddy field and damp, foggy conditions couldn’t stop the Dawgs, who tied 1-1 with IU in the first game. After a short break, the Dawgs came back strong and were able to defeat Purdue 1-0 in what was the best game of the season so far.

After two full weekends, of soccer, the Dawgs have a break until October 23rd, where the team will take on Indiana State at home for their final game of the season. As always, the season has flown by fast. Be sure to come out and show your support on the 23rd; kickoff is at 2pm. Go Dawgs!
