Butler 2020 Day of Giving!

Butler University’s Day of Giving is on February 26, 2020.

In the spirit of Butler’s founding year of 1855, Day of Giving will once again offer 1,855 minutes for Bulldogs to celebrate and give back to the University. Butler University’s Day of Giving starts Wednesday, February 26 at 6:00 AM and will run until 12:55 PM on Thursday, February 27.

This day is so important to us as this is one of the biggest ways we get funding!

We have an exciting year planned and we are asking for donations to help offset our general expenses. To keep the team progressing each season requires a significant budget that cannot be met by University funds and student dues alone. We depend on individuals as well as businesses in the community to support our team in order for us to continue to not only compete but also represent Butler University. Our expenses for the season consists of travel to and from tournaments, ref and field time fees, as well as potential league fees as we look to join the WCLL in the future. For those of you who were with us last year, we have new jerseys coming as a result of last year’s successful day of giving!

Our goal is to acquire sufficient funds from donors and or sponsors to strengthen the foundation of our team and to ensure the future success of the program. Given that we are a non-profit organization, your donation is tax-deductible and serves as an excellent way to give back to your community. We graciously accept any assistance you can offer, and we thank you in advance for your support for our club and our University.

Donors will be presented with a letter of thanks as well as an acknowledgment certificate for your tax-deductible donation. You can click the “Giving” tab at the top of this website to find instructions on how to donate, and be sure to specify that the donation is for “Women’s Club Lacrosse” Thank you for your consideration.

Butler Women’s Club Lacrosse team thanks you for your help in helping our program grow!

Also, make sure to keep checking the GroupMe for updates on when we move practice outside and will require sticks and gear.

NOTE: If you are a new player, please contact our secretary, Katie Slywka (kslywka@butler.edu), to be put in our GroupMe so you are in the loop regarding practice times/changes and plans regarding future games!

October Review

During October, Butler Women’s Club Lacrosse has been mainly focused on preparing for our play day in November. Due to the sun setting earlier and daylight savings time, practices have been shorter and players have been flexible with our updated schedule. We’ve focused on keeping up our fundamental skills as well as getting in as much scrimmaging as possible. Be sure to come to support your Dawgs at our play day (s) on November 16-17 on the IM Fields.

WVU Tournament and September Updates

Last weekend, the team drove to West Virginia to play in a two-day tournament hosted by West Virginia University. They played two hard games against Wesleyan and West Virginia University where they lost 9-12 and 2-16, respectively. Elizabeth Hinkle, a sophomore and newcomer to the team, was the top scorer of the weekend for the Dawgs.

This fall season has been off to a great start; we added lots of great freshmen to the roster as well as many returning players. We are looking forward to continue to work and improve during practice and then play in and host our Butler Play Day during the weekend of November 16 and 17!
