After a whirlwind of a season, we must look back and be proud of how our boys performed against some of the top teams in the region! With a record of 5-2-3, Butler has just completed their best season in over seven years! Although Butler did not place top 3 in the Southern Division of the Midwest Alliance Soccer Conference, which would earn them a trip to Regionals, they placed 4th in the south, and 17th in Power Rankings. Congratulations to the Bulldogs on an incredible season and thank you seniors for all your hard work and dedication to the club! Can’t wait to see how next season pans out!
Butler also finished tied for 3rd in shutouts (6) in the entire conference (50 teams), finishing behind: Purdue(8) and Notre Dame(7), and tied with: Cincinnati, Michigan, UW-Madison, Indiana, and Marquette. *All seven of these teams reached Regionals.*
It’s that time of year again boys! Let the season begin! Tryouts will be held August 28-30 (Wed-Fri) from 6-8pm on Club Field #3 which is located down by the IM fields. Block Party will take place in the new business building on Tuesday August 27 from 5:30-8pm so come check out our table and get some more information! Any students who are interested in attending tryouts but do not know where to go will meet at the flag poles at 5:30-5:40pm to walk down to the field.
Let’s have another record breaking year and let’s make it one to remember! Go Dawgs!
Over the weekend Butler Men’s Club Soccer hosted a round robin on campus with Ball State and Bellarmine. Butler went 1-0-1 with a tie against Ball State (1-1) and a win over Bellarmine (4-0). Captain and President, Austin Powell (JR), scored a free kick goal with 3 seconds left on the clock to escape with a tie against Ball State. Alex Reinke (FR), Viktor Stepjic (SO), Ryan Toering (FR), and Zach Towle (SR) all got their names on the scoresheet with a goal each vs. Bellarmine. Brendan Spencer (JR) also gets credited with a shutout vs Bellarmine with half a dozen saves. Good showing as we head in to the IM leagues time of the year, good luck to all our players who are playing! #DawgsNeverRest
When it’s this nice out in the middle of winter, its impossible to stay inside. #NoOffSeason
While practices and games are not being held, Butler soccer still chooses to train for next fall by playing indoor leagues to stay in shape and get touches on the ball, along with possibly playing spring friendlies with other schools. We are still in search of a coach, if anyone knows someone who might be interested in this position please go to the contact page and contact our President! We hope to hear from you!
Over the weekend, our men’s club soccer team participated in the NIRSA Open National Tournament in Gulf Shores, Alabama. We finished 1-2 in our group and lost to James Madison who took home 2nd place in the tournament. We beat Colorado College 3-2 with our president and captain, Austin Powell, scoring the first two goals as well as our treasurer and senior captain, Zach Towle, scoring a late chip to seal the game in his final club game. Congrats to the boys who made the trip down there and thanks to everyone who made the trip possible! We hope to be in this tournament again next year, but hopefully in the Championship Series. Go Dawgs!
Congrats to Butler Club Soccer for finishing the season with the best record in the last five seasons. After going 3-5-2 in the Midwest Alliance Conference Southern Division, Butler was invited to compete in the NIRSA Open Tournament in Foley, Alabama from November 29-December 2. Good luck boys!
