Nine members of the Club Tennis team recently returned home from a tournament in Tuscon, Arizona! This was the second year in a row that we have participated in this national event. The TOC Spring Invitational is an invite-only tournament for those teams that competed in their sectional tournament, but missed the cut for nationals. The tournament takes place over three days, and has a field of 48 teams. This year’s tournament saw 36 unique schools participating.
Our team was seeded the first place team in the 12th pool of four teams each. On Friday, Butler defeated Texas State University, University of Arizona, and Cal Poly- SLO to win the pool. Butler advanced to the Gold bracket, where they took on Midwest foe Michigan State. After a tough battle, the Dawgs lost to the Spartans, but had two more wins against University of Arizona and Northern Arizona University later that evening. Finally, on Sunday Butler played UCLA for 9th/10th place and took home the consolation trophy and a 9th place finish. Overall, it was a very successful tournament.
Special thanks to THREE Bulldog fans who made the trip out to Arizona: Jill, Michael, and Eric! We appreciate the support you guys gave us throughout the weekend.
Arizona is beautiful! Check back in a few days for a video recap of our trip…
