First-year computer science major Ethan “BigChi” Meadows was recognized this week by the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) esports league as Rainbow Six “Player of the Week.”

After a big Butler win against Arcadia University (2-2) on February 22nd, the NECC made the announcement Monday with a graphic via Twitter.  “The Arcadia match felt like I had to step up a little because I knew a lot of us were not 100%, being busy with school and life,” BigChi said.  “I think we’re doing good this season because we are starting to look back at previous games more, and trying to get each other to fix our flaws.”

Following several semesters of competition in the CollegiateR6 (CR6) league, the Bulldogs debuted in the NECC Challengers division this spring and are currently in second place with a 5-0 record, far outperforming previous CR6 seasons.  The second half of the round robin is still ahead, including a head-to-head matchup against the other currently undefeated team, SUNY Oswego (5-0).  The plan for the team moving forward is to “continue to focus on fixing re-occuring problems that we know we need to fix, and get more play time with everyone,” according to BigChi.

Butler’s Rainbow Six team will play another CR6 match later this week, and an NECC game against Buena Vista University (2-3) on Monday night at 6pm.
