The Butler Bulldogs dropped both games this weekend to the Miami Redhawks with final scores of 9-4 and 7-2.
In game one, the Redhawks jumped all over the young, timid Bulldogs. Miami was up 2-0 less than two minutes into the game. The Redhawks scored two more before Jack Becker and Matthew Moraw each scored in quick succession as the period ended. The teams traded goals in the second with Jesse Longtin scoring for Butler. Miami took over again and scored three more goals to push the lead to 8-3. Blair Haugh scored his first collegiate goal in the third period, but the Redhawks scored again late to make the final 9-4. Butler goaltender Ryan Dyball was superb making 70 saves in the game.
In game two at Miami with a depleted Butler lineup, the teams played a closer first period with Miami only able to score once. The Redhawks began to pull away in the second, scoring three times before freshman Blair Haugh scored his second goal of the season. Miami scored a late goal in the period to push the score to 5-1. Freshman Matthew Moraw scored his second goal of the season in the third before Miami pulled away in the third with two more goals.
The Bulldogs have a off week for the school’s Fall Break and is back in action at the University of Illinois on October 19th and 20th.
