These past few weeks have been very exciting for some of our clubs who attended National Tournaments to wrap up their season! Both the Women’s Club Volleyball team and Club Tennis traveled to different states to face off against teams from all across the nation.
Club Tennis traveled to Arizona to compete in their National Tournament. The dawgs had an awesome first day, going 3-0. They faced off against Cornell and won with a score of 28-26. They bested UCSD 27-22 and ended the day beating New Mexico State University to finish the day undefeated!
The Dawgs advanced into the Gold Bracket where they ended they day finishing 12th out of the 48 competing teams! Club Tennis is very pleased with their results and look forward to attending another National Tournament in the upcoming 2015-2016 school year! Keep up the great work dawgs!
Butler Club Tennis in AZ for their National Tournament
Women’s Club Volleyball also attended a National Tournament this year for the first time in the club’s history. Hosted by the NCVF and put on in Kansas City, MO, the National Tournament boasted hundreds of team from all over the country. The Dawgs had three days of matches. The first day the Dawgs went 3-0 defeating SUNY Cortland, Stetson U, and American U. They then advanced on to day 2 to defeat UW- Green Bay and Wake Forest, maintaining their undefeated status.
The Dawgs advanced into the Gold Bracket on the last day of tournament play. They had a Big East match up for their first game and were able to scratch out a close win. The Dawgs advanced to play Sonoma State University in the semi-finals and handily won in two games. For the final match of the day, the Dawgs faced off against UW- LaCrosse for the Championship match. After a close, hard fought 3 games, the Dawgs took home the National Championship! The team is ecstatic with their results and extremely excited for what the next year is to bring!
