The 2018 fall semester has been one of growth, change, and success for the Club Sports Program and our teams.

The semester began with the addition of our wonderful Club Sports Coordinator, Bailey. She has worked to connect and engage the department with each club team on a personalized level. She has also spearheaded the implementation of several new initiatives:

  • Safety Officers – Each club team was required to have one safety officer by the end of the semester. A safety officer is a team member that has completed the CPR/AED/FA certification and can provide first-aid assistance in case of an emergency. The teams are required to have two safety officers by the end of the spring semester.
  • Club Sports Supervisors – These supervisors work our on-campus club sports home games. Their job includes event management and oversight as well as act as first responders to any emergency situations. They are also CPR/AED/FA certified. There are currently six Club Sports Supervisors, who have covered 10 on-campus home games throughout the semester.
  • New Instagram – The Club Sports Department created their own Instagram account over Thanksgiving break. Instead of posted on the Butler HRC account, the Club Sports account can provide more updates and details about the weekly-happenings of the teams. Follow the account to stay up-to-date on news, scores, and club features. We will continue to post about weekend events every Friday. https://www.instagram.com/butlerclubsports/?hl=en

As for our clubs, they all participated in and hosted many games, scrimmages, and tournaments throughout the semester. Overall, there were 425 club sports participants, 395 of which were unique to one sport. That is a large increase from the 374 participants, 344 of which were unique, from last year! Our teams traveled to over 50 events throughout the semester and hosted 19.

Each team had a unique fall semester, many of which were full of prosperity. Here is a recap of the highlights of each team’s last few months:

We would also like to give a big shoutout to Ashley Eimers, our Club Sports Undergraduate Assistant, for doing a lot of behind the scenes work to help our program continue to succeed.
We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable winter break!
