What a week it has been for Club Sports!
On Monday the 22nd, Club Sports participants attended the HRC Recognition Banquet. For the Club Sports Department, three awards were given out. The Outstanding Achievement Award was given to Men’s Club Soccer for their record-breaking season and invitation to Nationals. The Most Improved Club Award went to Women’s Club Lacrosse for their new underclassmen exec board, expanded roster, and excellent social media. The Most Valuable Player Award went to Nick Kaess of Men’s Club Soccer for his dedication, work-ethic, and love of the game.
Over the weekend, both volleyball teams traveled to Denver for Nationals! On day 1, the women’s team went 3-0 by beating Wake Forest, SUNY-Oswego, and UW-Oshkosh. On day 2, they beat Wash-U and Lehigh, but fell to Bellarmine. In the gold bracket, they beat UW-Oshkosh 25-17, 27-29, 15-7 before falling to UW-Eau Claire 22-25, 17-25. They ended up in 3rd place!
The men’s team went 2-1 on day 1 by beating UNC-Wilmington and Dartmouth and falling to Grove City. On day 2, the men’s team beat Fairfield 25-20 and Yale 25-18, 25-16 and fell to UW-LaCrosse. They made it to the gold bracket! The team lost to St. Thomas on Championship Sunday 21-25, 25-23, 12-15. They ended in a tie for 9th place!
The women’s club basketball team hosted their final game of the season on Saturday at the HRC. They won in convincing fashion – 70-41!
This coming weekend only holds one Club Sports team in competition, as final exams are next week. The Women’s Club Soccer team will be playing a double-header in Terre Haute on Saturday. Game times are set for 2:00pm and 4:00pm.
