It’s officially summer break! As we reflect on the past year, it is amazing to think about all of the accomplishments of our Club Sports teams – big or small. For the big accomplishments, many teams attended Regional or National tournaments over the year! Let’s look at who went and how they did:
Men’s Soccer: During the fall semester, the team was invited for the first time to attend the NIRSA National Tournament in Foley, Alabama. They lost their first two games in pool play before winning their last one. Day 2 was canceled due to inclement weather. This tournament was invite-only and based off of the successful season that the team had!
Women’s Basketball: In March, the team attended the NIRSA Regional Championships at University of Dayton. They went 0-3 on the weekend, with a team of six players, against Ohio University, Saint Louis University, and Marquette University. However, the team’s President, Jayda Watkins, received an All Tournament Most Valuable Player Award!
Tennis: The team traveled to the TOC Spring Invitational in Orlando, Florida during the middle of the spring semester! 48 teams were invited to participate. They won their first match due to another team’s flight cancellation, lost to Wash-U 20-25, and beat New Hampshire 30-13. The team made the gold bracket, making them top 16 teams! On day 2, they lost to Wash-U 19-23 and lost to UCF 6-30. On day 3, the group fell to Arkansas 11-30 and then won the 15th place match!
